Motivation for the DR-Z125 comes in the form of a proven 125cc single cylinder, air-cooled engine that delivers strong, tractable power. A five-speed transmission and link-type gearshift provide precise operation and optimum feel. Firing the DR-Z is a reliable CDI ignition system tuned to enhance the engine's power output. This is partnered with an off-road type ignition system for minimal weight and maximum reliability. Supporting the 125cc powerplant are a frame and swingarm built specifically for the DR-Z125/DR-Z125L. Both are designed for maximum strength, minimal weight and to create a compact, sturdy off-road package. Suspension consists of a long-travel oil-damped fork in front with 180mm of wheel travel and a link-type rear suspension mated to a pre-load-adjustable single rear shock.
